Scuba Dive Trip to Fanning Springs March 2016

Denise and Tim did a scuba dive in Fanning Springs last week. Fanning Springs is a Florida State Park, located on US 19/98 in the town of Fanning Springs. It contains one of the state's 33 first magnitude springs. As of 2008, decreased water emission levels at the springs technically re-qualify the first magnitude status as "historical first magnitude." The spring pool is about 200 feet by 150 feet, with a maximum depth of 20 feet deep. There is a short river run connecting this to the Suwannee River.

They had the place to themselves, and it was crystal clear. They didn't see any manatees, even though they were in several times earlier that week.

They did see LOTS of snakes....topside, and under water!

Brown water snake, Nerodia taxispilota

Lots of other critters out & about too:

Carp

Bowfin

Sunfish

Hogchokers

Mullet

Bass
