Suresh, Meghana, Harsha, Sahiti, Jagrut and Usha came all the way from India this week to learn how to scuba dive in Orlando, Florida and check out some of our beautiful springs. Stephen from Washington also joined the group :) They completed their Open Water Course with TJ, Tyler and Peter over the course of the week.

On Monday they dove at Lake Denton. As it was a Monday they had the place to themselves.















On Tuesday they dove at Alexander Springs. Alexander Springs was very quiet, we were the only group there, and there were lots of fishes out, and some turtles too.

The class finished off Wednesday at Blue Springs.













Blue Springs is hitting busy season right now, and weekends are slammed there, but nice and quiet on the weekdays :) The visibility there is really good right now.


There is ALOT of life in the run! There also seems to be more and more native catfish in the river run these days, maybe we are getting on top of the recent problems caused by non-native (Plecostomus) catfish? there are schools of them on the right hand side as you swim down the river run.

We completed our pool session at the City Pool on Friday afternoon. We even had some music from the synchronized swimmers to keep us entertained :)








The class dove on Saturday and Sunday at Lake Denton.

A few other classes arrived throughout the morning, but the lake was not crowded at all :) Best of all the water temperature was 79 degrees, with the thermocline sitting at 30 feet. They also serve hot food at Lake Denton now, sell T shirts, and have plans to build new Diver bathrooms and changing rooms...its a GREAT set up for divers :)

A big group headed out from Dayo Scuba Monday morning to dive at Blue Heron Beach.


The air temp was nice and warm, and the water temp was up 78 degrees. We divided up into teams and assigned flag holders :) The visibility was pretty good 15-20 feet (great)......and there were LOTS of critters around.


We started our dive at ~ 930am, just before high tide. We swam to the shopping carts and sunken boat first, there were lots of critters around in this area.










Afterwards we swam across the sand to the bridge pylons. We saw an octopus out in the open sand, and it seemed very skittish, we found a bottle for it...it checked it out, decided against it, and took off to hid in some ropes instead.

We spent the rest of the dive around the pylons checking them out and talking pictures. LOTS of life here including seahorses, fireworms, flounders, jawfish, shrimp, sea urchins, sea stars, parrotfish, porkfish, wrasse, flounders, eels, batfish, and sheepheads.....

Betsy and Jeff came all the way from Atlanta this week to learn how to scuba dive in Orlando, Florida and check out some of our beautiful springs. They completed their Open Water Course with TJ and Denise, diving Wednesday at Alexander Springs and Thursday at Blue Springs.

Followed by an afternoon 2-tank boat trip with Little Deeper in West Palm Beach. We're drift diving the 60' reefs. Cost is $70 for the boat - free for the bridge dive, just need you own gear!

Billy went diving with TJ this weekend as part of his TDI Cave Instructor Workshop. They dove in North Florida, and Chuck as a student :)

They also dove at Madison, which was pretty silty still after the last flooding.

Great fun was had, and congrats to Billy on his new Instructor rating :armata_PDT_34:

Cave Instructors are the pinnacle of Scuba Instructors. It takes years of experience and teaching to accomplish this goal.

Rogerio's TDI Advanced Trimix Training


Rogerio visited from Finland this past week and completed his TDI Advanced Trimix training with Tj in Dayo Scuba. Tommy swamalong, and helped with photography :) They had some nice diving over the course.


As Rogerio was the only student in class, he had ALL Tj's attention :) He still isn't sure if this was a good thing or not :)












Congrats to Rogerio on his new certification, we hope to see him again soon, as we have promised him a nice Ocean dive for his next Trimix dive!
