    DAN O2 Provider

    with Dayo Scuba, Orlando, Florida

The O2 Provider course trains and educates students in the techniques of using oxygen as first aid for a suspected dive injury.

“In DAN’s most recent dive accident record, less than 33% of injured divers received emergency oxygen in the field. Few of those received oxygen concentrations approaching the recommended 100%. DAN and all major diving instructional agencies recommend that all divers be qualified to provide 100% oxygen in the field to those injured in a dive accident”. (source: DAN website).

    What it is:
With the O2 Provider course, you can breathe easy, knowing that you can recognize illnesses treatable by emergency oxygen. For scuba divers there is an extra advantage, you are training yourself to be the best buddy in times of need.

    Agencies we teach for:
    SDI and DAN.

    Course Cost:
See Prices Page..and we give a big discount if taken with First Aid (hyperlink)

Cost includes: educational materials, training and certification card.

    Gear you need to provide:
None!! No scuba gear is required….as this is all “dry” training.

    What the course entails:
The O2 Provider course consists of some academics and practical training.

    How we teach it:
Before the practical class, you’ll review your O2 Provider Manual, which gives a step-by-step explanation of when and how to provide emergency oxygen. The manual also covers safety considerations, how to assemble and disassemble emergency oxygen equipment, and how to contact EMS and organize evacuation for victim(s).

The academics and reviewed and reinforced when you meet your Instructor, who will guide you to setting up and using oxygen equipment.

After successful completion of the academics and practical training with your instructor, you will be awarded your certification as an O2 Provider!

    Age requirements:
You must be at least 12 years old to receive an O2 Provider rating, there is no maximum age.

Minimum # of students per class:
We need 2 or more people to make an O2 Provider class. Private, one-on-one classes can be organized for a separate fee.

How many people are in each class?
Our O2 Provider classes range in size, from 1-4 students. We always have two Instructors on site, to assure personal attention and fun, and usually some extra help too (Divemasters and Instructors in training). Weekends are busiest.

    Schedule/Timing for Course:
We train all the time, and have multiple instructors on staff, many full time, so we do weekday and weekend classes.

Call us or check out our Calendar for dates of upcoming courses.

How long does the course take?
Usually one morning, afternoon or evening on the academics, and another morning, afternoon or evening for the practical training.

    Where we do our course:
At the Dayo Scuba Training Center

    Prerequisites for Course:
    * Before participating in the O2 Provider course, you will be asked to fill out a standard liability release form.

    * Although suited for scuba divers, this course has no prerequisites and doesn’t include any scuba dives, so it is equally applicable to divers and non divers (eg boat crew, non-diving partners, lifeguards, and shore staff). You don’t need any previous CPR or first aid training to take this course.

    What you can do afterwards:
    * Dive, dive, dive!!!

    * Dive more comfortably, knowing that you have basic training in identifying and dealing with common diver illnesses.

    * Setup and use emergency oxygen for stricken divers.

    * Continue your diver training with more specialized training.

    * This course is an excellent progression toward First Aid and the Rescue Course.
