What our Open Water Course consists of:
Academics
* The academics are completed at home from a DVD set or an Online Code we issue you when you come by the store or pay online for your scuba class. The academics are done on your own schedule, in your own time. There are review materials/quizzes to complete as you work through this material. When you are finished with your academics, we need to fit you for scuba gear, then hit the water!
Gear Fitting, Final Academic Test and Paperwork
This takes place at the Dayo Dive Shop on Thursday at 3pm
OR
Friday morning at 9am
You need to bring the following with you when you come to the scuba store:
* Proof of completed academics: filled in Knowledge Reviews for PADI students, filled in Workbooks for SDI students, or the printout if you completed your academics via an online code.
* The filled in paperwork, medical statement & other forms you got in your pack when you signed up (contact denise@dayo.com if you didn't get these forms, and she will email them to you)
* A bathing suit (so we can fit you for a wetsuit)
Pool Session
* We do the pool session on Friday afternoon from 12pm-6pm, in Oviedo. You MUST have completed your academic test, and have been fitted for your scuba gear (as described above) before coming to the pool session. We use a nice, warm heated (local) pool to train our divers, it's the perfect place to learn how to scuba dive!
Checkout Dives
* Students must complete a minimum of 4 open water checkout dives; we do 2 on Saturday at
Alexander Springs (finish time 1-2pm) and and 2 on Sunday at
Rainbow River.
* Sunday is a slightly longer day, as we return to the dive shop after diving to complete session 5 of the class, the gear check-in, gear care & maintenance seminar, class debriefing and out processing (takes place at the dive store usually between 3-5pm).

Gear rental & care/maintenance session, Class De-brief:
This takes place at the Dayo Dive Shop on Sunday afternoon after the last set of checkout dives (time varies, but is usually 3-5pm).
You need to return all the scuba rental gear to the dive store, wash and clean everything.
We then complete our dive log books, debrief the dive class, and complete the class out-processing.
Information on Scuba Gear:
When you come by on Thursday or Friday we will get you fitted for all the gear you need to complete your scuba class.
As part of our open water course fee we supply ALL the scuba gear you need to take this class, you need to rent/own you basic gear mask, fins, snorkel & booties.
You are responsible for transportation & care of the scuba rental gear, it remains in your possession until the class finishes, and you check it back into the store (Sunday after the last dive).
We have put together a movie to show how we fit people up for Scuba Gear, how the gear works, and how to care for it and transport it....you can check it out here:
