Scorpionfishes are spiny masters of disguise, expert at changing their color to camouflage them with their surroundings. Some of the 200 plus species family have venomous spines, but they are not aggressive creatures. if threatened they will erect their dorsal spines, if the danger persists, they usually flee as opposed to fighting.

Most are bottom-dwellers that feed on crabs, shrimp, small fish and squid. They use their large mouth to create a vacuum and suck in their prey.
