After much eating, socializing and diving throughout Friday, the Dayo group entered the water at 11:45pm to bring in 2011 at the Annual New Years Eve Galaxy dive, in Ginnie Springs.

Thanks to Sludge and Mark, who carefully cut and sieved 100 glow sticks, we had a big, glowing blue bag of chem glow.

All the divers (maybe 30 altogether?), entered into the Ballroom and collected near the grate. Sludge had his light on at first (actually there were a few who swam in and around with their lights on, but they FINALLY got the hint), and when he turned his off that was the signal that we were 30 seconds from midnight. Right at midnight, Mark opened the ziplock bag and released the mixture into the water.

The mixture quickly broke up into little globules and dispersed throughout the water...it was VERY cool, a very surreal experience. The little globules stuck to divers and the walls and floated around in the water....it was amazing.....

We stayed in the water about 20 minutes enjoying the experience as the chemglow blew around the cavern and finally out into the river.

Don Jacobs shot some video and it came out pretty good (we are still waiting on it), and here is a link to some video someone else shot that night also:

This year was also MUCH warmer than the previous years...air temps were way up there, but we did also enjoy the bonfire the guys set up too....

A great dive was had by TJ, Denise, Sandra, Chris and Don.
