On Friday afternoon, after a morning of academics at the store, Brent, Scott and I headed off to Deleon Springs for the first day of the Advanced Nitrox (http://www.scubadiver.cc/forums/showthread.php?t=1667)/Deco (http://www.scubadiver.cc/forums/showthread.php?t=1666) training.
We spent the rest of the day working on shooting liftbags, dropping and picking up O2, and gas switches.

On Saturday we headed out to Hudson Grotto. We already had our dive plans all made out, so we got our gear together, and put everything down in the water. Three of us dived in sidemount and and two in doubles. We were all using air as back gas and oxygen to decompress on. We had planned for two dives to depths of 110 and 150 feet.
For the first dive we dove along the south wall, off the 100 foot platform, following the lines. There was lots to see (with our lights!), some cars, bus, a boat etc. It was pretty dark down there, we lost ambient light at about 70 feet going through the halocline. The temperature ranged from 72 degrees topside the halocline, down to about 30 feet, and a chilly 63 degrees all the way through the halocline from 30-100 feet, and a toasty 74 degrees on the bottom. The smell was pretty bad down there also :icon_sad:
Our run time was 22 minutes, followed by about 15 minutes of deco at varying levels. We discovered the importance of buddies having spare lift bags and lending a hand out :)

We had an hour surface interval, filled up, and then set off again off the 100 foot platform. After exploring for a bit, we shot the liftbag and started back to the surface.

On Sunday we finished off at Blue Springs, where we got great use of our carts in hauling all those tanks to the head spring.

The boys planned and did two dives, and realized (a bit too late, the importance of having a very early time, or bailout plan :))
Great weekends diving, congrats to Brent, Scott and Billy who all did really well :armata_PDT_34:
