We are planning to go diving for MEGALODON TEETH :eek:MAY 14 which is a Wednesday we only have 8 spots left. SO PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU WANT TO JOIN IN
Venice is the"Shark tooth capital of the world". The waters were prehistoric feeding grounds for the ancient giant shark, Carcharocles Megalodon. The specialized fossil hunting charters are very popular. You will find giant shark teeth, manatee bones, whale bones, prehistoric horse bones and other unique fossils. All fossil dives are in the 20-30 foot depth range allowing for plenty of bottom time. :) The fossil diving is usually "muck diving" with average visibility of 8-10 feet the norm. But if the excitement of finding a rare tooth or other unique fossil appeals to you, then join us for some pleasant diving. Cost $69 for two tank dive trip and includes tanks/weights.
Peter, Denise and me.... who else?

This is a great trip and worth skipping work for. Time is running out and we need to get our slots locked in.

I would love to skip work for that trip, but I just can't swing it that day. Maybe next time. I hear it's a fun dive. Enjoy!

We are going to meet a Florida West Scuba which is by the bridge to the beach. We will then board there very nice boat and head out to area that the captain knows. Steve the captain and owner of the shop is a retired geologist so he gives us a small history of the area and why the teeth are there. It is really interesting and always a good time. As for when you can let us know, well if you cannot until the 8th then that will have to do, but the boat may be full as we are not taking the whole boat.

The cost is $69.00 and we have to be at the boat at 8:00. Yes it is two dives and they supply the tanks unless you are like me and like to dive my own. This is the web site of the group we are diving with. http://www.floridawestscuba.com please feel free to call me 321.228.0835 if you have any questions.

They don't give discounts on bringing your own tanks.... However, if you breath a lot, bring your own so you can stay down at least 10 minutes... :102:
I'm leaving my house at 4 a.m., meeting with Jim Whited at 4:20 a.m. at World Watersports parking lot. We'll carpool from there. Scott? Jenn?
Chris, are you driving from your place to the dive site?

Yep, it was a fun trip. I'm still excited about seeing a sea horse. For some reason I never expected to see one in the Gulf of Mexico (or any Florida dive site). Now I wish I had a camera.

I really wish I had seen a seahorse :icon_sad:
TJ and I have our goodies (magladon tooth, various small other shark teeth, manatee ribs etc) soaking in vinegar at the moment ... It was an excellent day, and well worth collecting... Pics online soon,
